Contractor is redeveloping the former Royal Mail Sorting Office

Laing O’Rourke has been confirmed as the main contractor on the revamp of the former Royal Mail Sorting Office 21-31 New Oxford Street in central London.

The Post Ðǿմ«Ã½ designed by AHMM for joint venture partners Oxford Properties and Brockton Capital will provide 270,000 sq ft of office space and feature a 7,500 sq ft rooftop garden.

The scheme will also include some retail and a doctor’s surgery and 21 south-facing affordable apartments.

In addition to the building, a new external space will be created with plans to reopen the historic route of Dunn’s Passage.

Liam Cummins, head of UK construction at Laing O’Rourke, said: “Work has already begun on site and we are looking forward to bringing the client’s vision to fruition.â€

The demolition phase has now been completed and Laing O’Rourke has begun main construction with the project scheduled to complete next year.
