Consultant will design services on final phase of Michael Smith Ðǿմ«Ã½ at University of Manchester.
The Manchester office of White Young Green, consultant to the built, natural and social environment, is providing design services on the fifth phase of a £45m development project at the University of Manchester.
The six strong team is working on final phase of the Michael Smith Ðǿմ«Ã½, an international quality life science complex providing facilities for world class scientists. It is part of the development of a new campus at Manchester University which is being undertaken due to the expanding post graduate research requirements of the University.
Adjacent to the existing Bio Sciences Ðǿմ«Ã½, the Michael Smith Ðǿմ«Ã½ will house specialist and generic laboratories incorporating 2900m² of bioscience research areas as well as 1400m² of shelled space for future fit out.
The consultancy has been involved on the project as a whole from inception in 1999 and its role will continue through to completion in 2007. Gwyn Jones, Regional Director for WYG’s Manchester office said:
“We are delighted to be continuing our role on this project and to be working on such a landmark building. This is a challenging scheme as the engineering services are complex and will represent the highest standard of integrated and co-ordinated engineering for a wide range of life science research and development activities.â€
