Contractors to face repair costs on £20.3m Glasgow bridge
Contractors have to face repair costs on Glasgow’s Clyde Arc bridge, where inspectors found a new crack yesterday afternoon.

Contractor Edmund Nuttall is looking at extra costs to repair damages on the £20.3m bridge, which was first closed to road traffic two weeks ago after a support cable snapped.
Glasgow Council revealed yesterday that a crack was found on the bridge, which is likely to have developed since the cable broke.
A spokesperson for Glasgow Council said the crack was not there when the supporting cable first snapped.
The spokesperson told Ðǿմ«Ã½: “We need to carry out more inspection work to find out what happened, but the crack wasn’t there initially.â€
The bridge is likely to remain closed for up to six months. The council has also called for a stop to river traffic underneath the bridge.
The spokesperson said: “We felt it was necessary to take all sensible precautions.â€
