Contractor Morgan Ashurst is preparing to scale back its Scottish business after a large schools project comes to an end next month, fuelling concern about public sector workload in Scotland
Ðǿմ«Ã½ understands a letter was sent to staff on 6 June explaining that up to 75 jobs could go. The company would not confirm the number.
The firm is carrying out the final stage of the £100m schools PPP in East Dunbartonshire, with all six schools due to be handed over by August.
A spokesperson said: “We have a number of major schemes coming to an end in Scotland, with new ones not coming online until later this year.â€
The news follows widespread disquiet about public procurement in Scotland as the Scottish Futures Trust, set up to finance large projects, has so far failed to put a single scheme out to tender.
