Probe follows allegations pay rates for workers have been overinflated
HS2 has launched an investigation into a labour agency supplier after a whistleblower reportedly accused it of allegedly overinflating rates charged for labour supply.
The allegation relates to Danny Sullivan Group, which is employed by the Balfour Beatty Vinci (BBV) team building large parts of the West Midlands section of the railway.
An HS2 spokesperson said: “HS2 Ltd treats all whistleblower allegations seriously and we are aware of the claims made in relation to labour suppliers on part of the route.
“An investigation was launched earlier this year into a number of different allegations and our contractor Balfour Beatty Vinci has implemented additional monitoring and controls.â€
Danny Sullivan Group has been suspended from providing additional workers to the project while under investigation.
A spokesperson for the firm said: “We are aware of the allegations that have been raised in relation to HS2. As a business with a long and reputable history we take these allegations extremely seriously and are co-operating fully with the ongoing investigation. We have acted swiftly to respond to the information, commissioning a detailed and thorough internal review, which remains ongoing.â€
Fraud allegations have also been made against a second, unnamed company, resulting in suspension and an investigation.
The suspension was lifted by BBV following a period of remediation and the firm remains under enhanced monitoring.
