Gleeds has bought an education consultancy, Cocentra, for an undisclosed sum in a bid to survive the cuts to the Ðǿմ«Ã½ Schools for the Future programme

Richard Steer, senior partner at Gleeds, said the deal was an attempt to diversify the QS’s education services away from just construction.

Cocentra is a £2.75m-turnover firm with about 30 staff. It provides advice on education and ICT to schools in the UK and abroad.

Steer said: “We see continuing opportunities in education, although with the cuts they may change in nature, and we want to move further up the food chain into client bodies.â€
