Developer Sama Dubai’s RMJM-designed tower will be first in Qatar to gain LEED environmental certification

The RMJM-designed Dubai Towers in Doha is set to be the first building in Qatar to be LEED certified.

When complete, the 84-storey building will meet US Green Ðǿմ«Ã½ Council specifications by offering improved air and water quality and waste management systems.

International developer Sama Dubai is behind the scheme.

Farhan Faraidnooni, the developer’s executive chairman, said: “We have focused on the latest available technology to reduce water and energy needs while minimising waste and pollution.â€

Joint contractors on the project are Al Habtoor of Dubai and Al Jaber of Qatar. New Jersey-based Hill International is project manager.

Other projects by the developer include the Lagoons and the Creekfront development, both in Dubai.

The first LEED-certified building in the Middle East was the Wafi City cooling plant, completed in 2006.
