Strong winds bring down crane in Westminster
A crane has collapse on the roof of the Cabinet Office in Westminster.
The crane collapsed as the UK was battered by a storm overnight with high winds of up to 70mph.
Deputy prime minister Nick Clegg cancelled a regular press conference at the Cabinet Office due to the collapsed crane and disruption to commuters’ journeys.
He tweeted: “Today’s press conference moved to a day when there isn’t a crane on the roof and journalists travelling on the train are able to join us.â€
Whitehall, the road running next to the building, has been closed.
No injuries have been reported.
