A rapid-cure, high-performance polyurethane resin screed from Altro can take heavy foot traffic only five hours after installation, reducing downtime.
Fast-curing Altrocrete PU HD is suitable for industrial applications where downtime is at a premium, in particular the pharmaceutical and food and drink industries, with the latter also benefiting from the product's resistance to taint.
Altro says Altrocrete PU HD offers outstanding wear and slip resistance, protection against chemical attack, and the ability to withstand impact and abrasion.
PU HD remains stable at temperatures between –40 degrees C and 100 degrees C. It can also cope with thermal shock, such as hot spillages and steam cleaning, when installed to a depth of 9mm.

Fibre in your concrete diet
Grace Construction Products has unveiled Strux 90/40 fibre reinforcement, designed to replace welded wire, light rebar and steel fibres.
The company says Strux 90/40 is the first synthetic fibre to give tight control over cracking and shrinking. With a greater volume of fibres than there is metal in steel-reinforced concrete, it prevents cracking, beefs up impact/fatigue resistance - and won't give workers cuts.

For a fast fix in all weathers...
WeatherDek2 flooring is now available in a fast-fix form. WeatherDek2 Fast-Fix, from Puhos Board, combines engineered wood floor beams with film-protected tongue-and-groove chipboard panels to offer temporary weather protection for floors during construction. The heavy-duty surface film peels off easily when construction is complete.
The fast-fix element of the system comes through use of a gun-applied high-performance adhesive, which glues the panels and drastically reduces the need for nailing.
At first-floor level and above, the weather-protected platform floor allows other trades to work safely beneath a roof under construction. This can save up to three days per unit and provides a pristine floor finish on completion.

High-powered solution for static electricity
Dissipating static electricity is a high priority for areas that will hold a lot of electrical equipment, such as computer and equipment rooms. To deal with such high concentrations, Kingspan has launched its Edge-Banded series of raised access floors.
Edge-Banded static-control floors have a vinyl, high-pressure laminate or rubber surface laminated to a standard Kingspan RG steel-encapsulated woodcore floor panel. It is finished with a protective edge-band trim.
Available grades include light, medium and heavy, all of which will fit standard Kingspan pedestals. Gravity-lay installation simplifies panel lifting and replacement for access to underfloor services. Precise dimensions and positioning features give accurate gridding.
This month Kingspan also launches a best-practice design and specification guide for raised access floors, including stage by stage specification of the new BS EN 12825 standard.

Big lift for subsidence
A fast fix for subsidence - and one that is much cheaper than ripping a floor out to add more hardcore - is to use the services of Uretek to deep-inject a polymer resin into the ground beneath the foundations. The resin expands as it enters the soil and lifts the floor slabs above it. The amount of lift is easily controllable because expansion takes place within seconds. Uretek has now launched Geoplus, which boosts the expansion force.
