Discounts given to tenants who buy their council homes under the right to buy could be cut by £8000 if a proposal by Welsh government goes ahead.
Local government, finance and communities minister Edwina Hart issued a consultation paper last week proposing to cut the discount from £24,000 to £16,000 either across Wales or in areas with a shortage of affordable housing. The consultation closes on 14 February.
Hart also proposed that councils in rural areas should be able to buy back homes, at market value, when tenants who exercised their right-to-buy decide to sell and move house.
