PAS 38 – The Publicly-Available Specification (PAS) standard for the remote monitoring of detector-activated CCTV systems – will become a draft document for public comment in the New Year.
In view of concerns expressed by some non-member companies that their views had not been taken into account, the Association invited them to join its Working Group in order to review the comments made about the standard. The draft for public comment will reflect the input of those companies taking part in the discussions.

The development of a PAS through the British Standards Institution is a recognised way of making a standard available in the quickest possible timescale, and to the widest group possible. One group of companies usually provides the impetus behind such standards.

The whole concept of a PAS is that it is just that – 'publicly available' for comment before it progresses on to become a fully-fledged British Standard.

I hope the security industry agrees that the hard work put in by a few will eventually be to the benefit of all when the full British Standard is eventually published next summer.
