Best buys for bathrooms
Specifiers of Twyford Bathrooms products can now order online using Spec-Master CD-Rom specification tool. The system includes images, drawings and provisional prices, prompting products best suited to an application. If approved by the customer, the order can be emailed.

Supermarket showcase
Housebuilders will be able to show 3D fly-throughs of their latest developments on a free magazine CD to be launched in December. Covering London, Essex, Suffolk, Norfolk and Cambridgeshire, the New House Register will be available in supermarkets with an initial run of 195 000. A free entry is offered in a register section but Pioneer Publishing hopes housebuilders will opt to pay to extend the information or take an advert.

Welcome home
Homeowners can open their front doors as they approach with Gretsch-Unitas' new Secury Comfort key. The device works with GU's Secury Automatic door locking system, remotely releasing dead bolts and the latch. Secury Automatic can be installed on timber, aluminium and PVCU door frames, and can be operated off a 12V fire or burglar alarm or installed alongside an existing intercom or electric release system.

Running homes remotely
The first electronic gateway to link home appliances and systems with an external system regardless of protocol has been developed by EA Technology. Flexgate will enable service providers and appliance manufacturers to communicate remotely with any service-enabled house. EA Technology is inviting housebuilders to join a consortium trialling Flexgate. The 2002 Networked Home Customer Services will include utility and metering companies, brown and white goods manufacturers, telecoms and security firms.
