MPs from the South-west have stepped up the pressure on the government to give the region more cash for affordable housing
Liberal Democrat MPs Adrian Sanders (Torbay) and Annette Brooke (mid-Dorset and Poole North) tabled an early-day motion on Tuesday demanding that the government address the affordable housing crisis "without delay".
The motion was tabled in response to a Joseph Rowntree Foundation report that found the region was the most expensive outside London.
The research, carried out by Professor Steve Wilcox of York University, found that in 16 districts of the South-west, homes cost nearly five times more than the average income for workers under 40.
The region lost out in February's Communities Plan, receiving no new funding above the level of inflation.
