A Hager bus-based control system allows lighting levels in the Melbourne Park Athletics Centre in Chelmsford to be matched to individual sports, enabling energy and running cost reductions.
m&e consultant Johns Slater & Howard specified the Tebis TS for the new £2.3 million centre to provide control for the different lighting levels needed for sports. In the sports hall, for example, five-a-side football and basketball need a lower light level than faster reaction sports such as badminton or table tennis.

Each light fitting has six fluorescent lamps. By using the Tebis TS, the number of lamps used can be altered to produce the different lighting levels; either two, four or six on at a time. This is managed from a central controller at reception.

The use of Tebis meant that contractor Bower Fuller could use single bus cable from the multi-gang switch panel, which significantly reduced the installation times on the project.
