RMJM, the UK-based international architectural and engineering practice is to merge with Hillier, one of the largest firms of architects in the US.
The deal creates a company with offices in 16 cities across North America, Europe, Asia and the Middle East, with approximately 1,000 design professionals and with more than £7 billion in construction value of buildings currently under design.
Hillier was established in 1966 and the deal will give RMJM a foothold in the North American market, where the firm will be branded as RMJM Hillier.
Services offered by RMJM include M&E and sustainability consultancy. A spokesperson said that as a result of the merger it was likely that similar services would be developed in the North American market.
Peter Morrison, chief executive officer of the RMJM Group, said: “The new firm will draw on a skillset from our diverse and experienced professionals that is unmatched and can be perfectly tailored to meet the design needs of all companies on our client base.â€
The merger was completed on 19 June.
