The Reliance Security Group has posted an increase in profits for the year ending 27 April 2001.
With turnover up 17.6% to £179.8 million, profit before tax for the contract security, electronic surveillance and security support services provider has shot up by 16.6% to £9.9 million.

Group chairman Brian Kingham told SMT that a "refinement" of Reliance's total security solution has led to longer-term contract wins, while the facilities management side of the business has witnessed "steady growth".

Kingham added: "Our continued growth in profits has been achieved alongside record investment in new businesses, coupled with a geographic expansion. While our mainstream growth has been organic, we have made small add-on acquisitions to complement and strengthen our competitive position."

  • Reliance has just been appointed by BAE Systems to provide a total security solution through a range of manpower services and Patrol Net response vehicles at all of its major locations across the UK.

The partnership follows a year of feasibility studies culminating in Reliance being awarded 'sole supplier' status for a five-year contract estimated to be worth in excess of £50 million.
