Pat Fitzgerald begins new job in September

Wates has brought in Mace’s commercial director for its major projects arm to be its new chief commercial officer.

Pat Fitzgerald will start in September and will oversee commercial, legal and building safety teams across the Wates business divisions.

Fitzgerald has been at Mace for just over 14 years and was involved with the firm’s recent winning bid for the £600m Euston Tower scheme for British Land.

He has also worked on the 2012 Olympics as well as the Battersea Power Station redevelopment.

A QS by background, Fitzgerald joined Mace from Bovis Lend Lease where he spent six years as a senior commercial manager.

Wates chief executive Eoghan O’Lionaird said: “Pat brings a wealth of experience delivering major projects across the UK, with deep domain knowledge and a proven ability to shape commercial operating models in businesses with multiple divisions.â€

Fitzgerald is replacing Wates veteran Simon Potter who retired in April. Potter joined the firm in 1989 and was appointed group commercial director in 2018. Potter’s role is being carried out on an interim basis by Chris Symeonides.
