Sale of troubled architect confirmed

Scottish based architect RMJM has bought troubled design firm YRM.

RMJM has confirmed it has purchased the 65-year old firm, which shut its overseas offices in Bucharest and Vienna earlier this year. YRM’s chief executive John Clemow said he approached the firm about a sale in order to provide the “capacity, capability and reach our clients in the UK, EU and EMEA increasingly require.â€

YRM is the architect for EDF of the proposed new nuclear power station at Hinkley Point, and has 850 projects in 37 countries in total. According to Ðǿմ«Ã½ magazine’s sister publication Ðǿմ«Ã½ Design, just six of YRM’s 25 staff will move over to the architect under the deal.

RMJM chief executive Peter Morrison said: “YRM’s position in energy and technology-related projects and our combined experience across a wide range of sectors significantly strengthens RMJM’s offer in the global marketplace.â€
