I'd like to voice my warm congratulations to Robina Rafferty, who has been appointed head of Housing Justice, created through the merger of the Catholic Housing Aid Society and the Churches National Housing Coalition.

I know Robina will steer the new organisation in a bold course and continue to galvinise many people in the fight against homelessness. I look forward to Crisis working with Housing Justice far into the future.

Strong partnership working is now well-established between Crisis and many other organisations working in homelessness. But contrary to rumours currently circulating, this does not mean we are again considering merging with Shelter.

For CHAS and CNHC, merger was right and by unifying to form Housing Justice they have built a stronger organisation. But merger is not a 'one size fits all' solution and is not the right route for Crisis. Now, as before, we can continue to work for homeless people better as an independent voice.

I believe a defining feature of the sector is our ability to work collaboratively with each other on the many urgent issues that face us.

I look forward to continuing in this and hope to end any distracting speculation about the future for Crisis.
