What the judges said...

   Haden achieved profits of 拢7.83 million on a turnover of 拢204.73 million in 2001. Judges noted that while r&d spend across the m&e industry was 鈥渨orryingly low鈥 they were encouraged by the upward trend among the finalists. Haden stood out for its six core values for success, its ISO 14001 accreditation and its continuing commitment to graduate development.

NG Bailey
2001 saw NG Bailey awarded a Grade 1 by the Adult Learning Inspectorate for its training programme, a first for the construction industry. The company has also carried out a review of site productivity, working closely with BSRIA. Turnover was up to 拢351.4 million, achieving profits of 拢2.43 million. EMCOR Drake & Scull Group
Emcor has established several initiatives in 2001 under its Respect for the Individual core value: annual employee surveys; a staff liaison board; a staff suggestion scheme; monthly and annual awards for employees; team briefings and appraisals. The company also established customer satisfaction measurement procedures via surveys and KPIs; EMCOR also sits on the BSRIA KPIs steering committee. Southern Electric Contracting views staff development as a key element of its business, which is officially recognised by its Investor in People status. The company has a feedback questionnaire to ensure that its customer service standards are implemented. It achieved profits of 拢9.06 million on a turnover of 拢166.25 million.
