ERCO has launched a range of recessed luminaires with various light intensity distribution. The range seeks to combine the typical high luminous quality and visual comfort of ERCO downlights with the luminous power and energy efficiency of high-pressure discharge lamps.
Features of the extended programme include: downlights, wallwashers and directional luminaires in power stages of 35 W, 70 W and 150 W. The virtual point sources of light are suited for superior reflector systems, such as those used for wallwashers or double-focus downlights.
A 35 W high-pressure discharge lamp has a typical luminous flux of around 3300 lumens. Compared to this, the nominal capacity of 200 W of a tungsten halogen lamp with similar luminous flux is around five times as high.
Glare free light leads the field
Zumtobel Staff Lighting and Sottass Associati have produced the Light Fields luminaire. The unit housing incorporates a new approach to the use of Waveguide technology – the micro-pyramidal optic which gives high lighting quality and excludes direct lamp glare. MPO comprises of a diamond-cut micro-pyramidal optic sandwiched in between two other layers. The outer layers ensure that scattered rays are reflected upwards while the light source is kept hidden from direct view, giving control and reduced illuminance at steep angles. Light Fields luminaires are available in surface mounted, recessed and pendant versions.
Outdoor leds
Forge Europa has recently expanded its range of led components to include a comprehensive series of precision high performance led lamps.
The new range has been developed specifically to meet the needs of the outdoor display market with a number of different size and wavelength options.
Package styles currently available are 3 mm and 5 mm round, with viewing angles from 15° to 35° and a number of elliptical devices.
A range of square leds has also been introduced, with domed and flat lens options having 115° viewing angles in two dimensions. These devices are suitable for applications such as switch top and fascia illumination.
Recessed leds
The Noctis range from Urbis Lighting comprises recessed led units suitable for both indoor and outdoor applications. The range consists of three circular versions, namely the Noctis Mini, Midi and Maxi and a straight line version, the Linea.
All versions of the Noctis range can be equipped with round or square bezels, in aluminium or stainless steel. A wide choice of protectors is available, offering direct, indirect or semi-direct lighting effects. White, red, blue, green or yellow leds are standard. The Noctis body containing the leds and control gear is completely sealed to IP67. Good examples of the Noctis' use include lighting avenues, parks or town squares, or creating dynamic lighting effects around street furniture to enhance aesthetic appeal.
Flexible colour changer
AVR has launched the Ledion, a colour changing lighting panel that offers exciting new dimensions for the interior design industry. Consisting of a slim 44 mm x 300 mm x 300 mm square panel, the Ledion produces a diverse range of cool colours and pale shades from its state-of-the-art led light source.
The colour changing panel has been configured to offer total creative flexibility for professional lighting designers and specifiers. The leds used in the Ledionprovide a typical life of 50 000 hours in normal operation. The fact that leds generate low amounts of heat means that the Ledion lends itself to being used generously in public areas where traditional light sources such as neon may be unsuitable.
The Ledion can be used as a stand alone colourchanger, as well as in multiple arrays. AVR has designed a standard 4x4 frame system for multi-unit applications, but bespoke frames can also be created for special projects. The units can be floor, wall or ceiling mounted. Control of the Ledion is via a remote keypad that allows seamless colour and intensity changed as well as more dramatic chases and matrices.
On the spot
Thorn Lighting has introduced the Multilight, its latest spotlighting system. The range comprises recessed, suspended and surface mounted frames containing combinations of tiltable gimbals making it suitable for modern retail, exhibition and reception areas.
The system allows for a wide range of possibilities for accent and display lighting by the tilting and aiming of the spotlights and the possibility to combine different light distributions within one frame.
The turn and twistable spotlight can be tilted up to 30° in two directions and can also be used as a conventional downlight. The recessed or suspended frames contain one, two, three or four spotlights while the surface mounted frames contain three or four. There is a choice of low voltage 50 W dichroic or 35-100 W QR11 metal reflector lamps. Multilight offers offers quick and easy lamp replacement.
