The latest Key Performance Indicators (KPI) for m&e contractors, launched in May 2002 by BSRIA, have returned good initial results
Improvements are shown in the following categories: client satisfaction with the overall service provided; the complete installation; predictability of time; and profitability.
Compared with the first set of KPIs, launched in November 2000, the greatest improvement has been made in productivity. At an increase of 23%, it is well in excess of Egan targets.
In a survey of all firms – categories are split to those with over and those with under 60 employees – productivity per m&e operative rose from £33 650 in 2000 to £41 235 in 2002.
Only two KPIs showed a downturn. They were the extent of defects and predictability of cost. Both fell by less than 5%.
Two KPIs, client satisfaction with the design, and the quality of o&m manual, remained unchanged from previous results.
