Housing Forum’s Demonstration Projects Report

Copies of the Demonstration Projects Report can be downloaded free from the Forum’s website: www.thehousingforum.org.uk. Alternatively hard copies are also available by calling 020 7691 0220.

The Forum is involved in 125 new build, refurbishment and maintenance projects across the UK, representing over 8750 new build units and over 42 000 refurbishment units.

The booklet looks at issues that have arisen during the development of these projects. It also gives examples of project-specific achievements, as well as suggesting future challenges for the industry.

It draws on demonstration project experiences through a survey in 2001, as well as project review meetings, regional group meetings and Key Performance Indicator data.

A full list of projects undertaken by the Forum is included in the appendix.

The overall conclusions of the report are based on demonstration project experiences. The principle challenges ahead are identified at the end of the report.

Subjects the report focuses on include: customer and client satisfaction; defects, snags and the defect liability period; cost and time; productivity and profitability; health and safety; and waste, sustainability and whole-life costs.
