Ðǿմ«Ã½ services engineer Gemma Collins has become the first woman to win the national title of Young Consulting Engineer of the year.
Collins, 33, of Solihull-based Cameron Taylor Bedford Consulting Engineers scooped the prize, beating four other finalists.
Judges from the Association of Consulting Engineers were impressed by Collins' 'devotion to championing engineering', a profession notorious for its low proportion of female entrants.
Collins, who regularly attends local career evenings to help young people evaluate their options, said: "I nearly missed my engineering opportunity because I just didn't know about it. I see it as my role to be an ambassador and role model, especially where young women are concerned."
