Crown House Engineering has developed a system of generating electricity from refuse tips.
The energy-from-waste package uses methane gas drawn from refuse tips to drive specialist engines, which run generators to produce electricity.

To date nine plants have been developed by Crown House throughout the UK under agreements worth a total of £9 million. These are providing around 30 MW of electricity to the National Grid. The output is being increased on two of the sites to provide a further 3 MW and plans are being considered to construct four new sites, with a proposed total output of 20 MW.

The installations are being carried out for the Waste Recycling Group, supported by the Non-Fossil Fuel Agency.
