A new electronic directory of electrical products and services has been developed by electrical contractor Paktron. The site, www.go-ohm.co.uk is aimed at specifiers, engineers, architects and anyone else who needs to source information on products and related business services.
Besides an extensive product/manufacturer directory, the site has 14 categories ranging from accommodation, insurance, legal and contractual services to plant hire, software, labour and resources, and specialist contractors.

The majority of the site is open to everyone; however, there is a members' area only available to registered users. Registration is free to bona fide members of the electrical industry and allows access to manufacturers' special offers, discussion groups, software applications and more.

Much time can be lost trying to find contacts in a range of fields for every contract. Paktron managing director Bob Pakes said: "Over the years we have assembled an inter-company database that addresses some of these issues, but it became evident to us that an industry portal could provide a far better solution."

The site, which was designed with the help of a team of web developers, managers, electricians, estimators, specifiers and engineers, is sponsored by Newey & Eyre. It will go public on 12 May 2003.
