The long-awaited regeneration of the Millennium Dome could end up a casualty of London mayor Ken Livingstone’s fight to increase affordable housing.
Greenwich council has passed development proposals from new owner Meridian Delta that provide for 35% affordable housing.

The plans will now pass to Livingstone, who is likely to veto them as part of his campaign to get 50% affordable homes on all new developments in the capital.

If he does so, Meridian Delta could then renegotiate the entire deal under a get-out clause in its agreement with the government, which became public last week.

Livingstone has 14 days from the formal receipt of Greenwich’s application to make his decision.
