As a fervent supporter of industry regulation, BSIA chief executive David Dickinson has welcomed the official launch of the Security Industry Authority (see our in-depth report 'From aspiration springs reality' on pp20-26 of this month's SMT).
"Professional security companies welcome regulation," said Dickinson. "Yes, it will bring about considerable change in the industry, but this will be change for the better. Much needed change, in fact. The BSIA lobbied for regulation for well over a decade before the Private Security Industry Act was ratified. We believe strongly in the potential of the industry once the minority of unscrupulous companies are no longer able to operate."
Dickinson is fulsome in his praise for SIA chair Molly Meacher and chief executive John Saunders, who have "consulted widely with the BSIA and its members" and "shown a real desire for raised standards across the industry."
