Molly Meacher is chairing the Board (she is also chair of the SIA itself, of course). Richard Childs, chief constable of Lincolnshire Police, takes on an ex-officio role as the ACPO representative at Board level.
Robin Dahlberg is also appointed to the Board. Robin has spent much of his working life in the financial community, and has recently held Board-level roles on an international basis in the IT sector. Peter Hermitage has also been appointed by the Home Office. After 31 years in the police service, Peter retired as the director of national police training back in 1999.
The final two Board members are Brendan O'Friel and Bruce Warman. Brendan spent 33 years in the prison service, including 15 years as a Governor. He's currently a member of the Probation Board for the Cheshire region.
Bruce Warman recently retired as director of personnel for Vauxhall Motors after 16 years with the company. He's a member of the Employment Appeals Tribunal, and remains actively involved in chairing CBI Committees covering employment policy issues.
Importantly, the SIA's Stakeholder Advisory Committee appointments have also been ratified by the Home Secretary. According to the SIA, the Committee "will be an important forum for communication between the SIA Board and the private security sector. This will ensure that Board members fully understand the implications of policy decisions for the industry."
Members of the SIA's Stakeholder Advisory Committee include: Ken Allison (chairman, Reliance Security Services), Nick Buckles (group chief executive, Securicor), David Burrill (head of group security at BAT Industries), Nigel Churton (chief executive officer of the Control Risks Group), David Dickinson (BSIA chief executive) and John Smith (head of group security at the Prudential). A full Advisory Committee listing is available on the SIA's web site: www.the-sia.org.uk
