David Tanner has joined leading CCTV systems manufacturer Baxall from Securicor to take on the role of sales and marketing director. Tanner – who has also worked for Motorola and IBM during his career to date – will plan substantial growth of the Baxall brand here in the UK, and further develop the OEM customer base.

Lord Condon has joined the Advisory Board of Verint Systems, the developer of communications interception, digital video security and surveillance and enterprise business intelligence solutions. Lord Condon was appointed Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police Service in 1993. He received the Queen's Police Medal in 1998, having been knighted in 1994. Lord Condon is also a non-executive director of Securicor.

Wirral-based security company Chrymark Security has appointed a new director of operations. Carl Lacey will direct Chrymark's two existing operational support managers, the risk assessment manager and nearly 200 officers. He's also responsible for the 24-hour Control Room, and is the principal point of contact for all patrol supervisors.

Martin Hill is the new area sales manager at electrified perimeter systems concern Harper Chalice. Formerly employed by both plettac and Security Enclosures, Hill will play a key part in developing sales of the company's PulseSecure systems.

Abacus Integrated Systems, one of the UK's largest independent security companies, has appointed two new national sales managers. Joining the company from ADT Fire and Security, Jon Gillingham steps into the role of systems sales manager. Meantime, Dennis Fitzpatrick has been appointed national accounts manager, bringing with him experience gained from 17 years within the industry. Dennis has worked in a variety of roles within the industry, including a spell as national accounts manager for RoMEC Security (Royal Mail) where he was working alongside clients such as Dixons and Safeways. Dennis will be based at Abacus' Cinderford office in Gloucestershire, working alongside a number of customers to provide a fully-integrated security service for end users.

To further enhance its educational commitment to industry professionals, WSG Associates – the national outsourced training provider – has appointed a quality manager to design, implement and then manage a quality management system based on BS EN ISO 9001: 2000. Derek Granger MBE was once a consultant for NATO Planning Staff, and served in the Royal Air Force for 30 years.

Quality Training Alliance's experienced training team has been further strengthened by the appointment of Chris Hobson, who joins the company from Broadland Training. Chris' main areas of expertise are CCTV, aviation and maritime security.

StoneSoft, the provider of enterprise security and high availability software, has appointed Nigel Rix as regional director for the UK, Ireland and South Africa. Rix's task will be to focus on new markets at the well-established UK division. He is to manage the continued development of the company through the introduction of a new Channel Partner Programme. Rix was formerly the UK general manager at Vigilante, where he spent two years creating and developing the extremely successful UK arm of the global company.

One of the UK's foremost specialist IT security consultancies – Basingstoke-based Diagonal Secure Networks – has appointed Steve Moren as its technical director. Steve joins from Cap Gemini Ernst & Young (CGE&Y) where he worked for 18 years – most recently as security development manager responsible for the interface to resellers and vendors, and the definition and development of security services and products used by CGE&Y.

Network Security Products (NSP) – designer of electronic door security systems – has announced the appointment of Neil Rule as northern regional sales manager. 30-year-old Rule joins from Access 2, where he was national sales manager. At NSP, Rule will be responsible for managing the northern region, and developing both existing and new business.

Simon Perry is to take up the role of vice-president (security strategy) for Computer Associates (CA). Based in the UK, Perry will extend CA's global leadership in the e-business security space.

Peter Manolescue – systems convergence specialist and senior consultant at global systems integration consultancy SecurityXML – has been selected as the only European member of the Content Development Board of BuilConn 2003 (the world's first conference to focus on the integration and networking of building systems for contractors, dealers and systems integrators).

Developments in new and emerging markets are behind a number of promotions and new recruits at Video Controls Limited (VCL). Chris Brown is now on board as digital CCTV and network product specialist. He joins from IndigoVision. Andy Alexander has been promoted to the role of product specifier to aid end users and consultants with CCTV system design. Wendy Potts has also been promoted, taking on the role of northern region internal sales manager. Tony Curran takes over as leader of the northern region sales team, while Guy Willott is a new joiner – tasked with developing the company's successful access control division.
