Being part of the procurement team for the British Antarctic Survey is not an easy gig.
The team only has two chances a year to drop off food, clothing and technical supplies to the staff at Halley Station one of the world's most isolated buildings.

'Anything that doesn't go on the ship just doesn't go. It's an exact science,' said Don Taylor, head of the BAS Ðǿմ«Ã½ Section.

Rations are towed on sledges by Sno-cats to Halley — 12km from the ice edge.

Over the years the system put in place by facilities managers has become a 'slick operation'. The supplies are delivered to the 15-strong team left to run the base during the Antarctic winter, where temperatures can drop to -45C.

If this doesn't sound too chilly a prospect to you, the British Antarctic Survey is recruiting people to maintain the earth's southernmost outpost. Steelworkers in particular are needed to perform maintenance work.
