The European Commission is scrutinising Belgian firm Fabricom's proposed acquisition of Sulzer Infra, the facilities management and infrastructure services division of Sulzer.
Under the deal, Groupe Fabricom, the industrial services business unit of Tractabel, will takeover three core Sulzer Infra units; building services, engineering contracting and infrastructure services. Groupe Fabricom aims to use the deal to offer improved services to its industrial and commercial customers in Europe.
It also plans to focus on its core businesses of M&E installations, heating, ventilation, air-conditioning and technical management.
The sale of Sulzer Infra brings to end months of speculation about the future of the unit, which will be rebranded as part of Groupe Fabricom.
All of Sulzer Infra's 5,100 employees are expected to join the new company. The commission is expected to reach a decision on 9 August.
