Terry Wyatt, current CIBSE president, has been invited to join the government's Sustainable Ðǿմ«Ã½s Task Group.
The Group will consist of 14 members representing environmental and construction organisations, together with officials from government departments. Sir John Harman chairman of the Environment Agency, and Victor Benjamin, deputy chairman of English Partnerships will co-chair the Group.
The Task Group will identify specific, cost-effective improvements in the quality and environmental performance of buildings. The Group will set short and long term objectives, and suggest further actions for government to accelerate the process.
Commenting on the invitation, Terry Wyatt says: "Through membership of the Task Group, CIBSE will be able to make a major contribution to the future design and operation of buildings in the UK."
The Task Group is a result of the Better Ðǿմ«Ã½s Summit, held at the end of 2003 and hosted by John Prescott, Margaret Becket (DEFRA) and Patricia Hewitt (DTI).
