New guidance by WRAP (the Waste & Resources Action Programme) helps to increase the use of ‘recycled content’ at the design, procurement and construction stages. Earlier this year, the government’s Sustainable Ðǿմ«Ã½s Task Group set a minimum requirement for recycled content in construction projects of 10% of the materials value of the project.
The two reports identify ‘Quick Wins’ – ways of achieving higher recycled content in buildings that are cost-competitive. Opportunities to use recycled materials in building (ISBN: 1-84405-130-7) and Opportunities to use recycled materials in house building (ISBN: 1-84405-131-5) are both available to download from the procurement section on the WRAP website, www.wrap.org.uk/procurement
