- Always consider the potential impact of your project on wildlife and habitat, whether the site is large or small
- Get everybody interested in the wildlife issues
- If you can’t avoid disrupting habitat, provide full mitigation or compensation, taking note of the accepted good practice
- Use an ecologist early in the development process and make them part of the project team
- Avoid costly delays by programming any surveys into the process as soon as possible
- Ensure that any staff and subcontractors on site are aware of any special requirements with respect to wildlife and have been properly trained to meet these requirements
