Wembley’s Safety and Security team has won the ‘MAKE A Difference’ Award from Security Officer and Team – the industry’s only magazine totally dedicated to manned security.
Judged by registered insurance brokers Darwin Clayton, the award is selected from written nominations and candidates featured in the publication. This particular award is bestowed upon the security team or officer that ‘makes a difference’ in the workplace for the benefit of visitors or the general public.

With more than one million concert fans, exhibition visitors and conference delegates visiting Wembley’s various venues each year, the security team – led by safety and security manager Stephen Daniels (‘Wembley way’, SMT, September 2001, pp20-24) – has a tough job on its hands. Daniels told SMT: “Security for events needs to be tailored to the audience. A high-tech exhibition demands strategies for handling theft, while a teen concert hosting 10,000 fans entails a good deal of health and safety assistance.â€

Daniels has recently been awarded his Diploma in safety management from the British Safety Council. The Diploma covers safety law, as well as advanced safety and risk management.
