I read last month's 'Information Station' with incredulity. Not that a member of a civic society committee should not know the pros and cons of timber and PVC windows in listed buildings, but that he should admit it so publicly. But the wrong end of the stick was grasped in the article. Replacement is the last option, repair is almost always better.

Poetry is as good a way as any of putting it across. So I've taken the liberty of attaching some:

I need a break, a little new wood]
An overhaul will nicely do.
It won't cost the earth, just appreciate my worth
It's excellent value, too.

But what is this I'm hearing?
New kid's vinyl too weak?
His wall is complaining of inadequate framing?
Cracking, as we speak?

He can't play his part.
We're structure and beauty together
While he is not even art.
