The Tenant Participation Advisory Service has criticised the government鈥檚 housing market renewal pathfinders for not properly consulting tenants over demolition plans.
TPAS is in discussions with the UK鈥檚 nine pathfinders and the ODPM to address what it sees as a failure to appropriately engage residents in the future of their homes.
Phil Morgan, TPAS chief executive, said: 鈥淧athfinders need to develop a much more comprehensive resident approach. They need to do more listening and more engaging 鈥
鈥淎t the moment many residents only find out about pathfinders when they鈥檙e told of plans to demolish their home. This is why there are so many demonstrations in places like Rochdale and Liverpool,鈥 he said.
A spokeswoman for Newcastle Gateshead pathfinder said: 鈥淲e鈥檙e happy to talk to TPAS and gain good practice from other pathfinders.鈥
