Eurocell's Martin Saunders is not the first to say that these are turbulent times. But in response the extrusions giant has launched products to help its customers to diversify

‘I've seen some turbulent times within the profile manufacturing industry, but last year was definitely a difficult one. 2006 has started as predicted; slow but picking up', says Martin Saunders, Eurocell's Sales Director.

With some of Eurocell's customers reporting up to a 30 per cent reduction on previous year turnover - ‘What can we do to turn it around?' was one of the questions that Eurocell's sales team were asking themselves. Well despite the poor year, Eurocell Profiles Ltd increased its year on year turnover by 15 per cent and added 65 customers to its books.

Last year saw the loss of two key market players in PVC-U systems: Schüco and Premier. Eurocell was able to pick up a number of the customers who were left with no supplier. Eurocell worked hard to establish a rapport with these customers and to help them wherever possible to give the customers a smooth transition to Eurocell products. Swift reaction to the situation saw Eurocell altering its product portfolio to meet demands for products that were currently not on offer.

A subsidiary of Belgium's leading chemical company, the Tessenderlo Group, Eurocell has invested over £8 million in its new manufacturing and administration plant and £2 million of Battenfeld extrusion equipment. The installation of SAP, Eurocell's new system for stock control, purchasing and distribution, has now been rolled out throughout the company's offices and depots. The system, teamed with over 70 trade depots, a fleet of 100 vehicles and a new fleet of forklift trucks makes Eurocell's distribution centre equipped and ready to get the products out to the customers on time.

In 2005 Eurocell won a coveted two-year sole supplier contract with David Wilson Holmes, which in turn has secured work for a number of Eurocell's fabricators.

2006 will again prove difficult for some fabricators and some may have to diversify into other markets such as new build or commercial. Eurocell can assist in these areas and has also launched new products to give its customers options:

Cavity Closer

Although the Cavity Closer has been designed for Eurocell's window range, it is also compatible with most other window systems. It fits 75mm and 100mm cavities, allowing for both internal and external frame fixing. The closer accepts any window type including wood, which has front to back dimensions of 60mm or more.

The Cavity Closer can be sent to site pre-assembled or in flat pack form and assembled without the need for screws. Eurocell can also arrange onsite delivery if required. The closer has been designed to be user friendly in both large and small volume situations. With the Cavity Closer windows simply clip into place.

Cream Logik

Part of the Eurologik system, Eurocell's Cream window and door profile works well with stone and complementary brick colours.

Ovolo system

Ovolo is a full suite of sculptured window and door profiles within the Eurologik family. Ovolo is an ideal choice for fabricators and installers wanting to use an up to date co-extruded profile featuring an easy bead system. Presenting a beautifully balanced and aesthetically pleasing finished product, Ovolo has been designed to make the job of the fabricator and installer as easy as possible.

Bay-Bee

Bay-Bee the compact conservatory, available in standard or extended versions, is Eurocell's newest product to be introduced to the conservatory market. Suitable for new build where space may be an issue the Bay-Bee is a good alternative to French or Patio doors.

Secured by Design

Now with Secured by Design accreditation, Eurocell's profile is poised to meet rigorous demands required by new build and social housing sectors.
