Regarding the story "Tesco to build up to 4000 homes in next five years" (16 May, page 14): Tesco also has a track record of working in partnership with local authorities in terms of sheltered housing provision.

In Weston-super-Mare, a successful leasehold sheltered scheme provides town-centre accommodation for many local people, some of whom sold their former right-to-buy council houses to move closer to services. One of the major benefits, of course, is close access to a supermarket without the need to get wet when it rains!
