Landlords that install environment-friendly features in homes must keep residents better informed about them, according to a Housing Corporation-funded advice body.

Green Voices and Choices, a report from the Sustainable Homes organisation, was based on interviews with social tenants.

It said: 鈥淎dequate information is seldom reaching residents in a form that suits them. Residents repeatedly mention the need for more consultation and information.鈥�

The report recommended early consultation with tenants about proposed changes.

It also said staff should show new residents how to use their homes鈥� features. 鈥淭his helps to avoid counter-productive actions such as blocking up ventilation [systems],鈥� it said.
