Landlords that install environment-friendly features in homes must keep residents better informed about them, according to a Housing Corporation-funded advice body.
Green Voices and Choices, a report from the Sustainable Homes organisation, was based on interviews with social tenants.
It said: 鈥淎dequate information is seldom reaching residents in a form that suits them. Residents repeatedly mention the need for more consultation and information.鈥
The report recommended early consultation with tenants about proposed changes.
It also said staff should show new residents how to use their homes鈥 features. 鈥淭his helps to avoid counter-productive actions such as blocking up ventilation [systems],鈥 it said.
