The Strategic Forum for Construction is ringing in the changes for the new year with a radical restructure aimed at better addressing its workload.

Its membership has been slashed to six organisations which reflects the full spectrum of the industry. They are: Construction Clients Group, Construction Confederation, Construction Industry Council, Construction Products Association, a joint group of the National Specialist Contractors Council & Specialist Engineering, and for contractors a joint group of the trades unions.

The new-look forum will meet three times a year and an executive panel will spearhead a monitoring progress aimed at achieving the targets laid down in Sir John Egan’s Accelerating Change document, which championed integrated working.

Outgoing chairman Peter Rogers, said the forum had been effective, but it was time for further improvements.

He said: “Perhaps the most important issue for the industry continues to be its fragmented nature, and it is hoped that this new structure will engender greater cooperation and make the forum an exemplar in integration.â€
