A new retrofit cable management system aims to solve the problems of trailing wires in homes.
Wieland Electrics gesis Mini compact pluggable installation system has been used by surface wiring firm D Line in its Easy Home Wiring Kit, providing a new way of installing extra sockets in domestic premises.
Sockets have pre-wired leads with gesis Mini connectors that click together. These are secured to the wall surface via keyhole fixings. Connectors and cabling are concealed in D-Line's patented click-lock hinged decorative trunking. Power is provided from an existing socket-outlet that is dedicated to the new radial circuit, and protected by a 13 A fuse.
The system elements are pre-assembled and come with a mechanical coding system to prevent mismatching. An adaptor combines gesis MINI with gesis Con, providing an installation system with over 5000 components.
The gesis system is implemented with a supply of 250 V and 16 A. As such, this three-pole mains connectors has the same current rating as the gesis GST18 connector. The system cables and snap-in facility connect via screw and the connection is released easily with a screwdriver, allowing lower installation times and costs.
Retrofit can also be implemented quickly and easily. As with all of the gesis range the live female contacts are finger-protected even when disconnected.
