SIR – I HAVE BEEN FOLLOWING THE progress of Security Management Today (SMT) for some time now, as you are fully aware, and regularly supported the journal’s editorial content (and have acted as a critic if need be). The substantial progress I believe the journal has made over the past 18 months in particular has been noticeable.
The quality of SMT’s editorial continues to improve, not just from a writing perspective, but in terms of the subjects that are covered. Subjects – such as licensing and regulation – that are fundamental to our industry.
Your journalism continues to hit the mark and, while I don’t agree with everything that’s being said, there’s always the right of reply. I’m particularly in favour of the fact that you actively seek out comment from those with something relevant to say.
I was very impressed by the in-depth Case Study you wrote concerning 30 St Mary Axe (‘Reach for the Sky’, SMT, October 2004, pp18-26) – and not just because my own company was roundly praised by the client! The very fact that you secured the interviews in the first place speaks volumes about the credibility of your journal in the marketplace, and this in turn must reflect on the performance of the Editor.
Keep up the good work!
Jonathan Levine, Managing Director, First Security (Guards)
