Security managers at Slough Borough Council have invested in a state-of-the-art surveillance system from Visimetrics to combat crime. The new Octar system uses some of the latest digital electronics developments, allowing Council CCTV operators to record and compare thousands of images almost instantaneously in the aftermath of an incident.

The Octar system – installed by Vidionics Security Systems – can also be programmed to actually search a specific area of recently recorded images. A typical example would be if the police reported a missing vehicle which was known to have been stolen the night before at, say, between 8.15 pm and 7.00 am from a known location.

The system can be configured to search that entire recorded period and locate the exact time of the criminal act.
