I find the current situation in Northern Ireland appalling and disgraceful indeed (“Northern Ireland spends £45m buying homes from intimidated owners”, 1 October, page 10).

The Special Purchase of Evacuated Dwellings programme is quite sensible because threat is always a reality in Northern Ireland.

I reckon the problem(s) have to be resolved from the source and not be shifted aside. Moving people from one place to the other might seem appropriate in the short term, but when the same people apply for a move on again within a reasonable number of years from their new area, then I will consider this as a waste of limited resources.

I hope that one day peace will reign and everyone will see themselves as good neighbours. Northern Ireland is a beautiful place; blessed with talent.
