School for scandal: A row has broken out after the deputy prime minister turned down an application to build 215 houses, including 65 affordable homes, in Bishop's Stortford (pictured).
The development's designer, S&P Architects, said the plan for the former John Dyde Training College in the Essex town went along exactly with the recommendations in recent planning guidance.
It feels the government is asking for higher densities on one hand and turning down actual applications when they arise.
