Redland Housing Association has been released from Housing Corporation supervision.
The Bristol-based association has joined Somer Housing Group in Bath as part of its recovery plan.
Redland, which manages more than 1300 affordable rented homes, was placed under supervision in September 2003 because of the corporation鈥檚 concerns over Redland鈥檚 governance and management.
The housing association subsequently invited takeover bids from suitors (HT 30 July 2004, page 13).
Somer Housing Group, which manages more than 11,500 homes in the South-west, was selected by Redland last October. Other possible partners included Knightstone, Sovereign and Silbury Group.
Somer鈥檚 group chief executive, Alan Ward, said Redland鈥檚 board, staff and advisers had done 鈥渁 huge amount of work over the last year or so to turn the organisation around鈥.
Steve Watson, previously development director at Gloucestershire Housing Association, has been appointed managing director at Redland.
