Pick and mix sounders
Klaxon Signals has introduced more flexibility of choice for its external range of alarm sounders. Users can now pick a lid/lens style in its own distinctive colour to match the application and then choose a sounder unit from the Flashguard V-Series.
The lids are available in three designs: XL Plus, Xpro-V and Xtravert. They can be matched with a choice of two sounder units, Premier and Value.
The twin-piezo Premier backplate has a sound output of 118dB (A) while the Value unit has a single piezo giving a sound output of 105dB (A). The new XL Plus is easier to fit and has a more powerful strobe requiring less standby current than the previous model.
The Pick 'n' Choose V-Series sounders are weatherproof to IP55, have dual flashing comfort LEDs and durable 3mm polycarbonate bases.

Effective response
The CS5000 is a compact Audio Visual Unit designed to provide confirmation of an unauthorised intruder presence and ensure effective police response.
The system comprises a small, low current control unit housed in the same enclosure as the alarm panel. It has two independent microphone inputs with an auto-learn feature that enables it to be easily connected to the majority of control panels. The unit also has clean changeover relay contacts to silence the internal alarm siren whether recording or transmitting unauthorised sounds.
The microphones are housed in a small plastic case that can be surface or corner mounted. Each has a two-wire connection designed to operate over long lengths of standard alarm cable without interference.
The CS5000 has two channels, each taking four microphones or inputs allowing a total of eight per standard system. The channels can accept microphones or a 16 microphone extender hub. In addition, there is a plug-on CS5020 expansion board that increases the basic two channels to eight.

Home alone
Euronova is offering a monitored alarm system called HouseSitter with no charge for the hardware and with a monitoring charge of just £5 per week. The system can be used on its own or as a second pair of eyes to support a security guard.
Euronova says the transition to monitored alarm systems is as natural as that from a 56k modem to broadband. HouseSitter is a compact wall-mounted system with a PIR detector and magnetic door contact. If an intruder is detected it will immediately allow a Euronova officer to listen in on the property.
HouseSitter is intended to work covertly. When activated, it informs only the security guard and not the burglars, allowing police or security officers to catch the burglars and retain property. However, the system can also be programmed to respond as a traditional alarm.

Automation gets heavy
FAAC (UK) has launched a range of operators for the automation of large sectional industrial doors. The 540/541 range is the first operator of its type and offers a robust and safe solution for new-build and retro-fit industrial and commercial installations.
The operator is available in two versions. The 540 'dead man' operator has a built-in control board with opening/closing push-button control. The 541 option features an integral encoder for operation with automatic/semi-automatic logics using FAAC's 578D control board, which can be remotely installed.
Both versions are available with or without a chain winch for manual activation in the event of a power failure. The door can also be moved manually during a power cut via rapid release cord device or chain winch. A further safety precaution is provided via a micro-switch, which automatically prevents electrical operation if either of the two manual activation systems are instigated.
The 540/541 operators are compact with a width of 92mm for new-build or retro-fit installations.

Panels for the disabled
BPT Security Systems has launched a range of DDA (Disability Discrimina-tion Act 1995) compliant panels that have been specifically designed in response to customer demand.
The panels have been redesigned to include illuminated buttons with tactile digits for the visually impared and 'door open' and 'speak now' LED indicators for the hard of hearing.
The panels are manufactured in stainless steel for vandal resistance and can be surface or flush mounted. They are available in audio and video formats from stock, although BPT also offers a value for money bespoke design service for customers with additional requirements.
The panels are modular and can be used with any of the BPT door entry or proximity access control systems. The panels can also be incorporated into a proximity access control system such as BPT's Impro IXP 100 or 200 giving added benefits to the disabled because it does not require them to operate locking equipment.
Users simply present a tag or card at the door's reader, which reads the unique code on that card via RF energy and the door is released.
