I am delighted that South Yorkshire Housing Association and Yorkshire Housing have been playing a positive role in housing asylum seekers and that Novas-Ouvertures intends to join them (鈥淣ovas-Ouvertures to bid for Home Office asylum-seeker housing contracts鈥�, 26 September, page 12). 露

I hope this will give a positive signal to other registered social landlords to help minimise the acute housing shortage that asylum seekers often face. Housing provision for asylum seekers should not be left to greed-driven private companies but to fair competitors among RSLs. The National Asylum Support Service contract should be made by competitive tendering so that affordable housing is encouraged.露

But I believe that some RSLs are not willing to house asylum seekers.
